Peer support is based on sharing a similar experience with another person. Peer support provides perspective and helps you find resources in the midst of illness. It is based on equality and mutual understanding that can be implemented face to face, over the phone or online.
Our peer support is intended for patients with colorectal cancer and their loved ones, and is always open and free to everyone. The aim is to provide support for patients with colorectal cancer and their loved ones at all stages of their illness and to create safe spaces for sharing experiences.
Peer support is organized by trained volunteers who have either had cancer themselves or are loved ones of former colorectal cancer patients. Volunteers receive regular training and they have confidentiality. Volunteers lead peer support groups in Helsinki, Turku and Kuopio and they also give personal support face to face, over the phone or online.
We also maintain two discussion groups on Facebook for colorectal cancer patients and those close to them.
